CyberKnife Cancer Treatment

Unmatched, sub-millimeter accuracy.

CyberKnife Radiation Therapy is a common, non-surgical form of cancer treatment that has been in use since 1992. The CyberKnife Stereotactic Surgery Systems use extreme-precision radiation therapy to combat benign and malignant tumors anywhere in the body.

We believe in the use of CyberKnife therapy as a means to dramatically improve our standard of care by using the best cancer-fighting technology.

Patients utilize the CyberKnife treatment system on an outpatient basis, without anesthesia and they avoid many of the potential risks and complications that are associated with other cancer treatment options.

CyberKnife Benefits

Cancer patients have a treatment solution that offers hope into their lives. CyberKnife is a robotic radiosurgery technology with two primary features:

  1. Robotic Arm
The radiation patients receive may be specifically directed and aimed by this state-of-the-art cancer technology, which reduces preparation time and increases the client's freedom of movement and ability to benefit from the treatment.
  2. Pinpoint Accuracy
The frameless structure of CyberKnife allows for efficient treatment and offer a solution for complicated cases. Its 'linear particle accelerator' maximizes the radiation therapy to the location of the cancer while reducing the impact to unaffected organs. Physicians can factor the right amount of radiation to be delivered to the right place.

Further benefits of CyberKnife Therapy are enhanced by these primary features. These benefits create a dramatically more positive experience for patients that utilize our cancer treatment services. These include:

  • Fewer Side Effects, Fewer Complications
  • Shorter Outpatient Visits
  • Dramatically Increased Efficacy Statistics in the 1st Year Following Treatment -
    • 85% Success Rate in the Control of Tumor Growth in Primary Cancer Patients
    • 92% Success Rate in the Control of Tumor Growth in Recurrent Lung Cancer Patients
    • 82% Success Rate in the Control of Tumor Growth in Metastatic Cancer Patients

Radiation Oncology Consultation

During your consultation with Coastal CyberKnife & Radiation Oncology, you will find answers to the questions you have and learn about life-saving positive solutions that we offer to defeat cancer.

We will review, in detail, your medical and family history, overall health and concerns to discern:

  • Radiotherapy Solutions Recommendations
  • Therapy Management Options
  • Potential Side Effects and What It Means to You
  • Address Concerns Your Family May Have
  • Answers to Procedures and Techniques
  • Alternative Treatment Options

Initial consultations with our caring physicians can be expected to last 1 to 2 hours in duration.

Phase I: Cancer Scanning

The CyberKnife System is built to deliver a total scan to localize the cancer treatment area. Through imaging, physicians are able to identify the location, size and shape of the tumor.

Phase II: Treatment Planning

Once a complete scan has been done to form a 3-D Image of the tumor, that data is reviewed by your physician to develop a detailed cancer treatment plan. This will include dosing of radiation to the local area to:

  • Minimize Damage or Radiative Effects to Surrounding Organs and Tissue
  • Deliver Treatment Relevant to the Exact Size and Shape of the Tumor

Phase III: Delivery of Cancer Therapy

The treatment table of the CyberKnife System will be positioned differently for each client's individual needs. Cancer treatment may last anyway from 30 to 90 minutes and may be completed anywhere from 1 to 5 sessions.

  • No Anesthesia
  • Non-Invasive Procedure
  • No Risk of Hemorrhage or Infection

Post-Treatment: Quality Assurance

Follow-up sessions will include further scanning/imaging to measure the effects of the radiation on the cancerous or tumorous area and monitor likelihood of reoccurrence.
